Our Commitment

Principal Finance is involved in a diverse range of programs within the community.

The following examples demonstrate our conviction that we should use the skills we have attained to assist others to succeed.

The Reg Morris Award

This award was dedicated in honour of Mr Reg Morris, a high profile Adelaide based insurance broker who actively promoted continuing professional development within the insurance industry.

Reg was involved in the implementation of various education initiatives in South Australia, particularly in relation to the concept of an award for the achievement of excellence within the insurance brokering sector. The award is open to all NIBA brokers based in South Australia, regardless of age.

Principal Finance is the proud sponsor of this award, which is presented annually at an industry luncheon attended by local and interstate insurance professionals.

Enterprise Development

Principal Finance has been involved with Enterprise Development Incorporated for many years, not only through sponsorship but more importantly by contributing our time and skills to the development of business professionals.

Enterprise Development runs a series of workshops each year which take participants seven months to complete. The workshops develop the practical skills and business acumen of the participants, whether they be budding entrepreneurs or intrapreneuers looking to climb the corporate ladder.

Schools Program

Principal Finance is currently developing a free program that will take us “back to the future” - so to speak. We’re looking to go back to schools to equip future generations with financial skills and raise awareness about the importance of developing good financial habits at a young age.

The vision is to create a two-part program that prepares students for the financial decisions they will make as they become older. This will include training and tips about saving money, using credit cards, and making a major purchase. It will also include budgeting, an overview of the loan application process and the importance of their credit reference file. Students will learn how to calculate the true cost of a loan, the advantages and disadvantages of line of credit home loans, and the importance of using insurance to protect themselves and their investments.

Following this, students will be split into four teams and embark on a hands on workshop.

The teams – Spend Thrifts, Credit Crazies, Quick Bucks and Wealth Wizards – will be required to make financial decisions using actual events that have occurred during a full cycle of the economic clock. Discussion will follow to help students understand the advantages and disadvantages of their decision making.

If you would like more information about the program or to offer suggestions, feel free to contact us at any time.
